You are sharing details about your family and finances. Here is what happens to that information from the moment you type it to the moment it reaches your client record, in plain terms.
256-bit SSL/TLS encryption
Everything you enter travels between your device and our systems over TLS, the same encryption standard used by banks and brokerages. Your browser confirms it with the padlock in the address bar and an address that begins with https.
"256-bit" refers to the length of the key used to scramble your data. A 256-bit key has more possible combinations than there are atoms in the observable universe; guessing it by brute force is not practical with any known technology.
Each connection also uses a fresh, temporary key, so even if one session were somehow compromised, others would remain protected.
SOC 2 compliant hosting
SOC 2 is an independent audit standard set by the American Institute of CPAs. A SOC 2 report means an outside auditor has examined how a service provider protects customer data across security, availability, confidentiality and privacy, and verified that those controls operate as described.
This organizer is hosted on infrastructure that maintains SOC 2 Type II certification, and the systems that receive and file your submission (our automation platform, document storage and client relationship software) are SOC 2 certified as well. Data stored on those systems is encrypted with AES-256 while at rest.
We review our vendors' audit reports as part of our compliance program and can provide their current attestations on request.
Nothing is sent until you press Submit
As you work through the organizer, your answers are saved only in your own browser so you can close the page and return later. They are not transmitted to us until you review them on the final step and press Submit.
If you are using a shared or public computer, use Start over when you finish to clear your answers from that device.
Where your information goes
- Your submission is reviewed by our firm before anything is written to your record.
- Your contact details are entered in our secure, encrypted client relationship system, and a summary of your organizer is attached to your record.
- Any documents you upload are filed in a private, encrypted folder that only our firm can access.
- Social Security numbers, when collected, are stored only in your client record. They never appear in summaries, emails or file names.
- As you type your street address, the text you enter is sent to Google's address service to offer suggestions. Only the address field is shared, and nothing else from the organizer.
- If you choose Finish later, your answers (not your documents) are saved encrypted on our server so a private link can restore them on another device. That copy is deleted when you submit, or automatically after 14 days.
- Your information is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
A few good habits
- Confirm the address bar shows https:// and a padlock before entering information.
- Avoid public Wi-Fi when entering Social Security numbers; a home or cellular connection is safer.
- We will never ask for your passwords, account login credentials or a full card number through this form.
